Atlas supports paying for usage through the AWS, Google Cloud and Azure marketplaces with self-serve Pay-as-You-Go listings that need no upfront commitment: the customer subscribes in the cloud console, links the marketplace billing account to one Atlas organization on the Select an Organization to Link page, and once the sync completes the marketplace subscription is listed as the Atlas payment method and the invoice comes from the marketplace. All outstanding or failed Atlas invoices must be resolved before linking, and unlinking is done in the cloud console (AWS Cancel Subscription, Azure Cancel subscription, GCP Cancel Purchase) without deleting Atlas resources, so charges continue. This pack draws on 6 source pages across 3 host labels and covers definitions, mechanism, how-to, measures, problems, comparisons and open questions; the Atlas pages do not describe private offers, marketplace contracts, commitment drawdown, required cloud roles or Azure and GCP invoice frequency.

Definitions
- Atlas supports paying for usage via the Google Cloud Marketplace (GCP MP) without any upfront commitment. You can link an Atlas account to a Google Cloud Billing Account, as well as delete an existing subscription. [source]
- You can pay for Atlas usage via the Azure Marketplace without any upfront commitment. You can link an Atlas account to an Azure Billing Account, as well as delete an existing subscription. [source]
- Atlas self-serve marketplace listings on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure are Pay-as-You-Go subscriptions with no upfront commitment. [source]
How it works
- The Edit button in the Payment Method field is disabled when you have a GCP Marketplace Subscription. To remove the GCP Marketplace Subscription payment method, you must unlink your GCP Billing Account from MongoDB. [source]
- The Edit button in the Payment Method field is dimmed when you have an Azure Marketplace Subscription. To remove the Azure Marketplace Subscription payment method, you must unlink your Azure Billing Account from MongoDB. [source]
- Atlas usage and support costs bought through the AWS Marketplace are billed together to the customer's AWS account daily, with no payment minimum. [source]
- Linking is per Atlas organization: after subscribing in the cloud console, the user picks an organization on the Atlas 'Select an Organization to Link' page. A disabled Link button means the organization is ineligible; a tooltip gives the reason. [source]
- After linking, Payment Method stays empty until the cloud sync finishes, then shows the marketplace subscription. The Payment Method Edit button is disabled while the subscription is active; the only way to remove it is to unlink on the cloud side. [source]
- For marketplace subscribers the invoice comes from the marketplace, not MongoDB. The subscriptions page says purchasers receive an invoice with an amount due through that marketplace, and no MongoDB tax invoice. [source]
- Azure linking lets the user add optional key-value tags on the Azure subscription at purchase time. [source]
- In the Payment Method field, GCP Marketplace Subscription is now listed. [source]
- Upon successful sync, you will see AWS Marketplace Subscription is now listed in the Payment Method field. [source]
- The Payment Method field now shows Azure Marketplace Subscription. [source]
- Upon successful cancellation of your subscription, the checkmark in the Status column appears grayed out for the MongoDB Atlas (Pay as You Go) subscription that you canceled. [source]

Measurements and reference values
- This listing uses contract pricing with two independent dimensions you can combine. The first covers MongoDB Enterprise Advanced licensing, billed per 256GB of RAM at the Government Support Tier II level. This dimension scales with the memory of your self-managed deployments; adding capacity means adding more RAM units. The second dimension covers Consulting, billed per day. You buy consulting days separately based on the professional services you need. The two dimensions are priced on their own terms, so you select the software license quantity and consulting days that match your requirements [source] — AWS listing for Enterprise Advanced GovCloud, not Atlas PAYG
Problems, failure modes and limitations
- Before an Atlas organization can be linked to an AWS, Azure or GCP billing account, all outstanding or failed invoices in that organization must be resolved. [source]
- Cancelling the AWS subscription unlinks billing but does not delete Atlas resources or data, and the AWS page warns charges continue for them. Plan a replacement payment method in Atlas before cancelling. [source]
- The AWS page says a credit card cannot be added as backup payment while the AWS Marketplace subscription is active. [source]
- The following procedures cover AWS Marketplace Subscriptions and not AWS Marketplace Contracts. [source]
- You must resolve all outstanding or failed invoices in your Atlas organization before linking it to your cloud service Billing Account. [source]
- If the Link button for a particular organization is disabled, the organization can't be linked to your GCP account. To see why you are unable to link a particular organization, mouse over the disabled Link button to display a tooltip with more information. [source]
- If the Link button for a particular organization is disabled, the organization is unable to be linked to your AWS account. To see why you are unable to link a particular organization, mouse over the disabled Link button to display a tooltip with more information. [source]
- Cancelling your subscription unlinks your AWS billing account from MongoDB but does not delete your resources or data. You will continue to incur charges for your MongoDB resources and data after you unlink your AWS billing account. To manage billing through MongoDB, see Manage Billing. To delete your Atlas resources and data, see Unlink Your MongoDB Atlas Account from Your Vercel Account. [source]
- If the Link button for a particular organization is dimmed, you can't link the organization to your Azure account. Mouse over the disabled Link button to display a tooltip with more information. [source]
Comparisons and alternatives
- Private-offer-only marketplace listings exist as a separate procurement path with fixed-term contract pricing (for example an AWS listing for MongoDB Enterprise Advanced on GovCloud, 12 months, no refunds). That listing is not Atlas Pay-as-You-Go. [source]
- Unlinking is done in the cloud console: AWS 'Cancel Subscription' on the agreement, Azure 'Cancel subscription' on the resource, GCP 'Cancel Purchase' on Your Orders. [source]
- MongoDB Atlas for Government (FedRAMP Moderate) - Private Offer Only combines the benefits of the Private Offer feature along with Carahsoft's contract vehicles in providing customers a seamless acquisition process for their cloud-based products and solutions from AWS Marketplace. [source]
- This listing is for Private Offers ONLY. Please reach out for more details. Thank you. [source] — AWS listing for Enterprise Advanced GovCloud, not Atlas PAYG
Open questions
- Atlas docs for the three marketplace pages cover Subscriptions only. They do not describe private offers, marketplace contracts, cloud commitment drawdown, required cloud roles, or invoice frequency for Azure and GCP. [source]
