How-to and procedures
- To unlink an Atlas pay-as-you-go AWS Marketplace subscription, open Your Marketplace Software, select the Atlas subscription, then use Actions in the Agreement section and choose Cancel Subscription; AWS Marketplace's SaaS guide likewise places cancellation under the subscription's Agreement > Actions menu and requires confirmation. (high confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-18) [source]
- To unlink Atlas Azure Marketplace billing, cancel the MongoDB Atlas subscription from the Azure resource group that contains it and confirm the cancellation; MongoDB says the subscription overview then reports it as unsubscribed. Microsoft's customer documentation also directs customers to manage Marketplace SaaS subscriptions in the Azure portal. (high confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-18) [source]
- To unlink Atlas GCP Marketplace billing, open GCP Marketplace > Your Orders, select the Atlas pay-as-you-go purchase, and choose Cancel Purchase; MongoDB says the canceled order's status check becomes gray. Google says some term-based SaaS purchases remain billable through the full subscription period, so verify the specific Atlas order terms before assuming cancellation is immediate. (high confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-14) [source]
Comparisons and alternatives
- MongoDB's Azure and GCP Atlas pages describe the provider cancellation steps and success indicators, but do not say whether Atlas data or access remains or how ongoing usage is billed after unlinking. Confirm those outcomes for the specific order instead of applying AWS's explicit retention and charge guidance to Azure or GCP. (medium confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-14) [source]
Facts and statements
- MongoDB's self-serve unlink procedures use provider-side subscription cancellation: AWS directs the user to cancel the Atlas Pay as You Go agreement in AWS Marketplace, Azure directs the user to cancel the Atlas subscription in its resource group, and GCP directs the user to Cancel Purchase in Your Orders. (high confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-14) [source]
- For AWS Atlas Pay as You Go, MongoDB says canceling the Marketplace subscription unlinks AWS billing but does not delete Atlas resources or data; existing resources and data continue to incur MongoDB charges after unlinking. Atlas's billing guide separately describes accepted payment methods for ongoing Atlas usage. (high confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-14) [source]
- Atlas disables payment-method editing and does not allow a backup credit card while AWS Marketplace is the payment method. Atlas's billing guide says payment configuration requires Organization Owner or Organization Billing Admin access. A safe AWS handoff is to identify an authorized billing admin and prepare an accepted direct payment method, then cancel the marketplace subscription and verify the Atlas Payment Method and next invoice. (medium confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-14) [source]
- AWS Marketplace's general SaaS cancellation guidance says cancellation stops future Marketplace charges, does not automatically refund charges on issued invoices, and leaves pay-as-you-go buyers responsible for usage already incurred. Reconcile those Marketplace invoices separately from Atlas's ongoing charges after unlinking. (high confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-21) [source]
- Google's general Cloud Marketplace guidance says cancellation of a fixed-term SaaS subscription can take effect only at the term end, with charges continuing through the term; it also distinguishes canceling a purchase or subscription from canceling auto-renewal. MongoDB identifies its GCP Atlas offer as Pay as You Go, so check the actual order terms before applying Google's generic fixed-term rule. (medium confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-14) [source]
- An AWS Marketplace SaaS reference implementation routes a License Deprovisioned event to access-revocation logic after a subscription is canceled. This is a generic seller sample, not Atlas code, so verify Atlas access separately from resource and data retention. (medium confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-21) [source]
- Microsoft's general Marketplace SaaS guidance says canceling a subscription removes access to the purchased software. MongoDB's Azure Atlas unlink page prescribes canceling the Atlas subscription but does not describe Atlas-specific access retention, so verify the service-access effect before canceling if continuity matters. (medium confidence) (verified as of 2026-07-20) [source]
- Canceling the AWS Marketplace subscription unlinks Atlas from the AWS billing account but does not delete Atlas resources or data; MongoDB says those resources continue to incur charges after unlinking. AWS Marketplace separately says cancellation does not automatically refund already-issued invoices and pay-as-you-go usage already incurred remains payable, so provider cancellation, Atlas usage charges, and resource cleanup are separate outcomes. (high confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-21) [source]
- Before linking a replacement Atlas Marketplace billing account, resolve all outstanding or failed Atlas invoices. After linking, wait for provider synchronization: Atlas keeps the Payment Method field empty until sync completes and lists the Marketplace Subscription only after successful sync. (high confidence) (verified as of 2026-10-18) [source]
