Atlas resource tags are case-sensitive key-value pairs added to projects and clusters; Atlas copies cluster tags onto billing output (a Tag/<key> column in the invoice CSV and a tags field on Admin API invoice line items) so teams can build showback or chargeback reports, but tags are read when the CSV is generated or the API is called, so retagging mid-cycle rewrites the invoice view and clusters deleted before the export appear untagged. The FinOps Framework frames the same practice as allocation (apportioning costs to those responsible for them), built on an allocation strategy, a tagging strategy and a shared-cost strategy. This pack draws on 7 source pages across 4 host labels and covers definitions, structure, mechanism, parameters, how-to, examples, measures, problems, comparisons and history.
