↓ Facts as markdownall context files

RamaLama is an open-source tool that runs and serves AI models in OCI containers (Podman or Docker), pulling them from transports selected by prefix (ollama://, huggingface://, oci://, modelscope://, rlcr://, URLs). Through v0.20.0 an unprefixed model name used the Ollama transport; v0.21.0 (2026-05-14) began deprecating it, v0.23.0 (2026-06-24) relaxed that, and the code at v0.25.0 has no implicit default (names with a slash go to Hugging Face, unknown shortnames raise an error), although the README still says org-less names default to Ollama. Containers are rootless and locked down by default. Sources span GitHub (README, releases, pull requests, source), man pages, Red Hat, a blog and a forum thread.
